Beaches

It finally warmed up again, so we've been on the beaches, determined to find a shark tooth (we didn't) or an incredibly cool shell (depends on how you define "incredibly cool' -- you be the judge:).

The most interesting beaches feature coquina rock formations, because it erodes into wonderful shapes. Sturdy enough to build hotels and forts out of, the rock is also soft enough to absorb cannonballs instead of breaking apart when hit, a delightful quality in a fort-building material. We especially liked what it looks like in its half-formed state. Remember Weetabix?

But the best part about the beach is living on it. Every morning is an exercise in loveliness.
